The care towards the environment highlighted through generous donations isn't always entirely honest and charitable. In some of the cases, it covers personal interests, or a golden path to make millions while displaying the profitable mask of an eco-conscious major enterprise.

At this point in time, nobody can't speak about earth-friendly strategies without mentioning Coca Cola.

The company committed to clean the mess after the 2012 Olympics, has a lot of recycling facilities which take care of the discarded plastic bottles and managed to create in partnership with another enterprise one of the most amazing items, awarded this year for its green design: the eco-chair manufactured out of 111 bottles.

Despite these achievements, the beverage company faced criticism after organizations and individuals stated that, while Coke act like an altruist company by investing millions in the Grand Canyon Park, it also speculates its position in its personal interest.

Up to 30% of the waste which threatens the purity of the Grand Canyon is represented by plastic bottles. In order to solve this unpleasant situation, the officials tried to launch and implement a bottle ban which was immediately attacked by Coca Cola, that highlighted  such a measure would affect the visitors' rights to free choice.

They wouldn't be able to drink what they enjoy the most during their visit.

Taking into consideration that the company has donated $3 million out of their profit margins to this region, the company managed to convince the National Park Service that its arguments are solid and pertinent.

At the same time, the individuals and organizations which criticize Coke's selfish initiative rely on the fact that several other companies which manifested their care towards the environment while facing decreased profit margins without trying to use their position and influence in their own favor.
