The Call of Duty series of shooters has been one of the most successful franchises in Activision's entire portfolio. Originally created by the team at Infinity Ward, the series began in the over-used World War II setting, but, with the fourth installment, entitled CoD 4: Modern Warfare, it gained critical acclaim for tackling contemporary conflicts.

Seeing how successful the series had become, Activision decided to split it between Infinity Ward and Treyarch, and task each studio with creating games on a 2-year cycle. As such, the franchise would see yearly installments. Despite worries that the new Treyarch studio wouldn't be up for the job, CoD: World at War became a bestseller and gained a lot of positive reviews, including our own, despite the fact that it went back to the World War II backdrop.

One of the most unique and fun elements of the game was the inclusion of a mode, unlocked at the end of the single player campaign, which placed you along with your friends in a house that was under attack by Nazy Zombies. That's right, you need to fight off the undead soldiers for as long as you can, guaranteeing some very interesting times.

Now, it seems that a new zombie-killing spree is due to hit the World War II shooter, as a Treyarch community manager revealed on the official forum of the game that a DLC (Downloadable Content) map pack would bring new adventures featuring Nazy zombies. “Nazi Zombies scare us too, which is why we’d like to give you a heads-up to stay tuned for official word regarding upcoming DLC. Yes, there will be a new wave of undead coming soon and – while we appreciate everyone’s concern we assure you that these zombies will only be found in the Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack. Stay tuned for more details!”

A lot of fans will be very happy about this announcement, as World at War already offered a great single and multiplayer experience. Hopefully we'll hear more about this soon when Treyarch or Activision will officially announce this DLC pack.
