AMD's partners have been fairly quiet following the official introduction of the Radeon HD 6790 graphics card as the biggest names in the industry such as Asus, Gigabyte and MSI haven't made their solutions official yet, so Club 3D has become one of the first companies to release such a card with the introduction of the Radeon HD 6790 CoolStream Edition.

Taking a quick look at this model, it becomes apparent that the graphics card doesn't differ all that much from the company's other HD 6850 and HD 6870 solutions, as the cooling solution employed is remarkably similar to that used by its older brothers.

This makes use of three copper heatpipes that draw the heat away from the core and into a larger heatsink which covers almost all of the printed circuit board.

The gathered heat is then dissipated by a 90mm fan which sits right in the middle of the card.

Otherwise, the card doesn't seem to differ too much from AMD's reference card as Club 3D's creation works at the stock 840MHz core and 1050MHz (4200MHz effective) memory frequencies set by the Sunnyvale-based company.

The only major difference is the use of a single PCI Express 6-pin connector, which means that the card doesn't draw more than 150W while in load.

The rest of the specification of the Radeon HD 6790 CoolStream Edition include 800 stream processors, 40 texturing units, 16 ROP units and the card comes equipped with 1GB of GDDR5 video buffer.

On the back we will find a more limited set of connectors than on most of the Radeon HD 6850 and Radeon HD 6870 cards, but the list still includes a dual-link DVI port, an HDMI connector and a mini-DisplayPort video output.

Pricing has not been specified, but considering that Club's 3D creation follows AMD's reference clocks it should be priced at $149.99.
