Security of data is as important when it comes to files stored locally, as well as to those available for access into the cloud.

Similarly, the level of security that cloud services providers can deliver at all times is a critical factor in taking a decision when looking to adopt a new service.

Businesses, governments and end-users alike are interested in taking advantage of a safer computing experience, and industry collaboration plays an important role in this, Tim Rains, director, Trustworthy Computing, explains.

He also notes that collaboration is as important when it comes to cloud security, and this is the theme of the latest episode of the Cloud Fundamentals Video Series, which can be seen embedded at the bottom of this article.

“Earlier in this series I discussed the benefits of industry collaboration with Jim Reavis, Executive Director of the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA),” Tim Rains notes.

“In this installment of the Trustworthy Computing Cloud Fundamentals video series, I discuss industry collaboration with Philippe Courtot, the Chairman and CEO of Qualys – a corporate member of the CSA.”

The discussion is focused on the importance of industry cooperation and teamwork. Mr. Courtot also exposes his view on what could help drive the state of cloud security forward for a few years.

According to him, cloud computing is tightly connected to mobility, and will continue to be so for the following period.

Courtot explains that “with the cloud we have a unique opportunity to build security into the very fabric of the cloud. You cannot do that alone; the cloud is too complex, we’re moving at the speed of light. Without collaboration it would be very difficult to achieve that goal.”

You can have a look at other videos in the Cloud Fundamentals Series as well, covering areas such as compliance, privacy, transparency, e-discovery, benchmarking and evaluation, and the like.
