Clonezilla Live 2.2.3-9, a Linux distribution based on DRBL, Partclone, and udpcast that allows users to do bare metal backup and recovery, is now ready for testing and download.

The Clonezilla team released a new development version for their Linux distro, but this is a very small update that was only launched for the sake of a single package, drbl, which has been updated to version 2.8.24-drbl1

"The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository, as of May 13, 2014," reads the official announcement.

The previous version of this distribution was a lot more consistent and the developers finally managed to upgrade the Linux kernel to version 3.14.2-1, which is the newest branch available right now.

Clonezilla Live is a Linux distribution that does only one thing: bare metal backup and recovery. It's very similar to other, older pieces of cloning software, such as True Image or Norton Ghost.

A complete list of changes, improvements, and fixes can be found in the official announcement. You can download Clonezilla Live 2.2.3-9 right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
