Clonezilla Live 2.2.1-9, a Linux distribution based on DRBL, Partclone, and udpcast that allows users to do bare metal backup and recovery, is now available for download.

Clonezilla Live 2.2.1-9 is now the latest development version for this distribution, and the developers have started to pick up the pace, releasing new builds more often.

“The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2013/Dec/10),” reads the announcement.

According to the developers, Linux kernel has been updated to version 3.11.10-1, Partclone has been updated to version 0.2.68.drbl1, and the pixz package has been added and is used for parallel xz compression and decompression.

Also, a mechanism to convert image compression format has been added, and it can be used to convert the gz compression to xz compression.
