Clint Eastwood may have reached the venerable age of 83, but he's still as sharp as he was back in his youth. The Hollywood legend managed to save a man's life by quickly performing the Heimlich maneuver on him.

The man was Steve John, the executive director of Prom-Am, who was attending a dinner event. The dinner was given in honor of the volunteers of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golfing tournament and took place in California on Wednesday night.

Also present a the event was Hollywood actor and screen legend Clint Eastwood, as reported by the Carmel Pine Cone local newspaper.

The actor later detailed the incident to the newspaper, “I saw that look in his eyes and saw that look of panic people have when they see their life passing before their eyes,” he said when talking about Steve John's face.

He goes on, saying, “It looked bad... I gave him three good jolts and that got it out. And then I made him drink a big glass of water with a bunch of lemon squeezed in it.”

Eastwood modestly admits he never performed the maneuver before in his life on anyone, but Steve was happy that it worked out the first time he did it: “Clint came up behind me and he knew exactly what to do. He did the Heimlich maneuver and he lifted me right off the ground. He's strong! The cheese popped out and I was fine.”

So Clint not only saved a man's life by preventing him from choking on a piece of cheese, but he also nonchalantly saved the evening event by playing down what could have been a dinner with a most unpleasant ending.

This should be definitive proof that all that training for action films does have its uses in real life situations and can actually save lives. Let's have a round of applause and a pat on the back for Clint Eastwood.
