The man who practically helped and contributed to the invention of the western movie industry and who coined the catch phrase 'do ya, punk?', while chewing on his cigar, has been recognized for his contribution to the ground breaking genre.
Eastwood was the man of the evening at the Golden Boot awards, held over this past weekend, and he looked better than ever at 76, clearly manifesting no intention yet of leaving showbiz. He was accompanied by his old friends, Burt Reynolds and Morgan Freeman, the latter being also the one that handed him the award.
Clint already has in possession another Golden Boot for his acting skills but this is the first time that he is being honored for his overall contribution to westerns. It all began in 1959, when he popped by a film studio and an executive saw him and decided that he looked 'like a cowboy'. After that, a string of highly successful movies followed, including 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' and the more recent 'Unforgiven'.
While many consider that period as the peaking point of his career, the Oscar-winning director ('Million Dollar Baby') says that there is still much more to come. Comparing himself to Sydney Lumet (80), Clint Eastwood once stated: 'I figure, I'm just a kid. I've got a lot of stuff to do yet'.
