Gears of War 2 is going to be a very massive title for the Xbox 360. Currently the most expected exclusive game for this console, with Microsoft heavily promoting it, it is the sequel to one of the most popular games released for the Xbox 360, which is still played today.

The game earned a cult-like following from the fans after offering them some great innovations in terms of console shooters, like the very well built cover system, and a tongue-in-cheek approach to a futuristic war between humans and aliens. These enemies, called the Locust Horde, are invading an Earth-like planet and the player, who takes the role of Marcus Fenix, needs to defend the planet, along with his very interesting team.

This sequel was eagerly anticipated by fans, but along with this anticipation, people were worried that the game wouldn’t offer the same well polished experience as the first Gears of War. Many critics expressed their opinions upon seeing the first videos of the sequel, saying that this title would be more of a Gears of War 1.5 rather than a true successor to the first one. In regard to those critics, lead designer Cliff Bleszinski recently spoke with GamePro about the differences between the two titles, especially in what concerns certain characteristics of the first one, like the battles with the Berserkers and Krill.

"There are no Berserkers in Gears of War 2. There are no Krill, either. One of the criticisms that people love to say about sequels is that "Oh, Gears 2 is just Gears 1.5." Well, we won't put Krill and Berserkers in. If you rounded a corner in Gears of War 2, and a Berserker burst through the wall and chased you down again, you'd be bored. If you had to do those light and dark puzzles again, with the Krill...it would be boring. We have lots of new monsters: Blood Mounts, Grinders, Reavers that land this time, Tickers, and tons of new boss monsters. We're letting those guys have their moment in the sun. We have plenty of monsters to fill in those gaps. We have new levels with different environmental hazards that aren't Krill. We're using something else this time, but you'll have to wait and see for that."

Definitely good news for Gears of War fans, who can hardly wait for the title to be released this Friday, on November 7.
