Gamers want to test out the titles they will then pay for

Cliff Bleszinski, one of the leading developers who worked on Gears of War, believes that modern game audiences are only prepared to pay for content they truly like and they need to have a clear way of trying out products before they make a decision.

The veteran developer tells the gathering at the 2013 East Coast Game Conference, quoted by Gamer Nexus, that the current generation “expects things for cheap, but if something's great, they will shell out for it - hence the rise of free to play.”

He also believes that most of the players who pirate would be interested in buying games as long as they were able to test them.

Bleszinski also says the correct response from publishers is to try and adapt to the needs of the public rather than track them down and punish them for piracy.
