CommuniTake Technologies has announced that its Remote Support application is now providing client-free remote configuration for Apple’s iOS platforms.

CommuniTake’s remote iPhone and iPad configuration is said to radically change iOS device support processes by providing representatives with the ability to remotely define complex iOS device settings.

For example, Email (POP3/IMAP & SMTP), Exchange Server, APN configurations and Wi-Fi are now more easily configurable than ever, the company says.

"We are focused on optimizing customer service and operational efficiency at the multi-channel support level. The clientless remote iPhone configuration extends our market-leading product’s capabilities," says Ronen Sasson, CommuniTake Technologies CEO.

They do this by allowing the support representative to fill in the required profile fields and send an SMS to the target iPhone.

CommuniTake doesn’t say how the information can be transferred over to a target iPad, since they don’t do SMS.

However, with iOS 5 and iMessage on the way, this will not be a problem at all in the near future.

The company explains that, once received by the end user, the new profile is automatically downloaded to the iPhone as the device holder opens the embedded link.

Technicians will be able to define multiple configurations in a single profile. They can select a procedure from an extensive definitions library as well.

"With this capability, service providers can capitalize on the operational advantages of running a remote support instance across their customer touch points,” Sasson adds.

“The user-friendly, Web-based application also enables enterprise IT personnel, in any location, to maintain, update and change devices logic without the need for external support professionals. It significantly intensifies the use of the enterprise devices across the daily tasks of enterprise professionals."
