Clearwire Communications, announced on Tuesday the launch of its CLEAR 4G WiMAX service in 10 new markets around the US, as promised back in August. A number of 14 areas can now enjoy the company's network, which reached on September 1 Abilene, Amarillo, Corpus Christi, Killeen/Temple, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, Waco and Wichita Falls, Texas; Bellingham, Wash; and Boise, Idaho.

“CLEAR combines two of the most exciting technological advances of our generation ─ mobile communications and the Internet ─ in order to free our customers to take their rich home or office broadband experience with them anywhere around town or on the go,” said Mike Sievert, Chief Commercial Officer for Clearwire. “Our 4G WiMAX network provides a valuable new category of Internet service designed to make people’s lives more enjoyable and more productive by giving them access to the connections, information and resources that matter most, wherever they happen to be.”

Clearwire's 4G network is based on the WiMAX technology, and, according to the company, it is able to deliver a mobile broadband Internet experience similar to the one offered by wired connections. The average download speeds the network can deliver range from 3 to 6 Mbps, while the top speeds reach 10 Mbps. The same experience that customers receive when using Wi-Fi is delivered by WiMAX too, with the main difference being the fact that the latter offers a much wider coverage than the former (no short range limitations present).

The new CLEAR network is meant to offer enhanced connectivity to all types of subscribers, including parents and children, students, mobile professionals, and others. There are a variety of plans that Clearwire offers to its users, including Home Internet service plans that start at $25 per month, mobile Internet plans that start at $35 per month or mobile day pass for $10. Other plans and options are also present on Clearwire's offering, and more info on them can be found here.

The broadband connectivity delivered by CLEAR can be enjoyed in a series of ways, adds the carrier, including the use of Clear USB Modem and Clear 4G+ Mobile, a Clear Spot, Intel Embedded WiMAX Laptops from different manufacturers or the recently launched Samsung Mondi WiMAX phone. Clearwire also announced that it plans on demonstrating the capabilities of WiMAX in the newly launched markets during a number of events throughout the fall.
