The ClearFoundation has announced that the ClearOS Community 6.6.0 Beta 1 Linux distribution is now available for download and testing.

It's been a few months since the previous release of this operating system and it looks like the developers took their time to add some very interesting features and various new packages.

“Along with the usual round of bug fixes and enhancements, this release introduces Wordpress, Joomla, Tiki Wiki, WPAD and AppFirst. You can also expect OwnCloud, SugarCRM, Vtiger and WPAD during the upcoming beta cycle. Under the hood, the event system, IPv6 and ClearOS 7 compatibility have also been a focus of this release.” reads the official announcement.

It's worth noting that some of the apps are now available via the Marketplace for this version of the OS, but that will change by the time it becomes stable. Even so, some of the packages can be installed from the repositories with the yum command.

Other packages that will be updated for this release are Wordpress, Joomla, Tiki Wiki, OwnCloud Home, QoS, YouTube School ID support, AppFirst, and WPAD.

A complete changelog with all the new features can be found in the official announcement. You can download ClearOS Community 6.6.0 Beta 1 right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
