14 DAY TRIAL // Ukrainian software vendor MacPaw has released CleanMyDrive, a new cleaning utility for Mac enthusiasts who don’t want the hassle of a big, all-in-one utility like CleanMyMac.
Although CleanMyMac will do a better job at keeping your computer clean and healthy, CleanMyDrive has been released for the sole purpose of getting rid of junk, the easy way.
Needless files generated by Windows or Mac OS, such as DS_Store, Thumbs.db, Spotlight, hidden trashes, and others are all done with by CleanMyDrive. It also helps you manage your external drives (including one-click unmount), thanks to an intuitive interface.
MacPaw’s engineers have implemented algorithms that allow the app to clean users’ removable media from annoying service files and free up significant amounts of space.
CleanMyDrive lets you easily monitor free space on your removable drives, access and eject them right from the main menu. Even network drives are supported, and it handles Time Machine volumes just as well, according to the developers.
“With CleanMyDrive the MacPaw team continues to pursue its successful strategy of developing extremely efficient and at the same time well-designed and thought-through Mac utilities,” says MacPaw. “The CleanMyDrive’s ability to clean removable media from junk brings the process of mounted drives handling to a whole new level.”

According to the CEO, this particular lackluster feature has prompted the development of a simple utility to address the needs of millions: “That had made us think how the ideal experience of using mounted drives should look like, and eventually we came up with the CleanMyDrive application”, said Kosovan.
