Musikmesse: Clavia unveils the awesome, new NordWave

Clavia are the northern masters of synths and this is by far a strong fact no one can deny. And just as if this wasn't enough and the Frankfurt Musikmesse hadn't already provided us with so many cool new things, Clavia steps in and amazes once more.

After the Nord Stage won the Messe award for the best stage piano at the 2007 conference, it's most likely that something more is on the way. Many other producers have struggled to deliver new gear at this Musikmesse but have succeeded only in offering some sound samples and some rather scarce pieces of gear covered in glass and no one could lay hands on them to see what's really going on.

It wasn't the case of Clavia: they decided to build up a follower for the acclaimed Nord Lead and so was the Nord Wave born. The cool thing was that people have actually had the chance to play the prototype at the Messe and so they really did, convincing themselves that the new Nord was for real.

Even though the Nord Wave is still in its prototype age and there is still a lot of research and development to be done, the main aspects are there and they can be touched and used already.

Clavia have given to the press some preview specs especially for the Frankfurt Musikmesse and thus you'll get to know that:

-The new Clavia Nord Wavehandles now full waveforms not only wavetables while still routing through analog circuitry;

-A lot of oscillator models like virtual analog, FM, wavetable, while still being able to load own waveforms. Even more - you can tweak and edit the waveforms as you like and completely delete the ones you don't like in the fully-configurable memory area; -Morphing in Clavia Nord Wave is almost total as you can modify almost any parameter by means of wheel, expression, velocity, or pitch, with assignable "morph scenarios" and morph "timelines";

-A lot of 24dB filters and filter-combinations are available;

-Effects like EQ, reverb, tap-tempo, tube-styles amps and overdrive are fully selectable and configurable.

Finally, Clavia has introduced a PitchStick, all made of wood for better grip and precise movement while bending or using the vibrato. There are no hard drives so the load time is almost zero (they use onboard hardware controllers for everything) and thus the latency is technically absent. All keyboard lovers should expect the release later this year -we'll keep you informed as soon as something new related to Clavia is on the move.
