Mage's Initiation, an adventure/RPG set in a magical realm, built in the old style of classic Sierra games, will be arriving on Linux.

According to the developers, Mage's Initiation is an RPG / Adventure Game hybrid, very similar in style and execution to Sierra On-Line's classic point & click Quest for Glory and King's Quest series.

The players will assume the role of D'arc, an initiate in the mysteries of magic who has to complete a series of tasks set forth by Mage Masters. You will make a journey through realm of Iginor in an effort to join the ranks of the Mages.

The developers from the Himalaya Studios have asked for help from the community and they’ve managed to raise part of the money they needed. The Kickstarted project for Mage’s Initiation will run for an additional 19 days, so there is enough time for fans to participate.

A Linux version will be available from the start, but it’s not going to be native. This means that Wine is going to be used, at least in the beginning. Himalaya Studios promised that a port would be made further down the line.
