Microsoft might be bringing back the Start menu in Windows, but third-party apps that introduce such a feature in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 continue to experience a terrific success and Classic Shell makes no exception to this rule.

Classic Shell 4.0.6 was officially released today to address some problems experienced with the older builds, so in case you’re running this app already, make sure that you update as fast as possible.

According to the official release notes sent to us this morning, the new version of Classic Shell, which comprises the same feature lineup as the previous builds, comes with a quick fix for a crash in Explorer that was spotted for the first time in version 4.0.5.

Classic Shell continues to work flawlessly on all versions of Microsoft’s modern operating system, including Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, with both 32- and 64-bit versions currently being supported. Even though no dedicated support is being offered for the upcoming Windows 8.1 Update, expect Classic Shell to work flawlessly on this OS version as well.

Overall, there’s no doubt that this particular update comes in handy to many users out there, so download Classic Shell 4.0.6 right now to see whether some of the bugs you’ve been experiencing lately are still there.
