Classic Shell, which is probably the most popular Start menu app for Windows 8 and 8.1, received another update today, that brings new options and enhanced support for various displays.

Version 4.0.5 has a new button for the Explorer toolbar that allows you to toggle the navigation pane, while also adding support for animated Start button, which clearly makes the entire experience a bit more appealing, especially for users who are trying to make their desktops more eye candy.

At the same time, the new version comprises improved support for high resolution and touch displays, as well as multiple minor improvements and bug fixes, so expect Classic Shell to work smoother and be more stable after deploying the update.

Just like the previous builds, it works quite fine on all versions of Microsoft’s modern operating system, including both 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.

Of course, the application continues to be offered with a freeware license no matter the operating system that’s powering your computer right now, so you can download Classic Shell 4.0.5 to see what’s new and fix any bugs or performance issues that affected your experience with this particular app in the past.
