Classic Shell received an update over the weekend, incrementing the version number to 3.6.8. Although this is a minor release, it packs some notable changes.

First of all, the developer made this revision compatible with Windows 8.1, which is currently available as a preview, designed for testing purposes; as such, it is not yet stable enough for most users.

The second important modification introduced with Classic Shell 3.6.8 is a new, better-looking logo. Another change refers to removing the Metro button, as per Microsoft’s request.

The list of changes informs that some glitches caught in the previous version of the application have been eliminated; however, the developer does not make available any specifics.

Classic Shell has been designed as a customizable start button for Windows. You can download it from this page.
