Micro-Star International announced not so long ago that its Classic laptop series had just welcomed two new models. Around the same time, however, it seems that the same line saw a new member, the bright and elegant CR720 17-inch notebook PC. This laptop combines the MSI wedge design with high performance and a display whose visibility is extended by 14%, for a wider viewing comfort. The notebook is described as having “spirited performance, fashionable exterior and friendly disposition.”

The CR720 gets its performance capability from an advantageous combination of all-new 2010 Intel Core Processors and the HM55 chipset. As such, the laptop features the Intel GMA HD integrated graphics and is designed with up to 4GB of DDR3 1066/800 MHz SO-DIMM, as well as an SATA hard drive with a capacity of 250GB, 320GB or 500GB.

In addition, MSI outfitted this mobile computer with a 4-in-1 card reader, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, 802.11 b/g/draft N and Bluetooth V2.1 for wireless connectivity and I/O options such as HDMI, D-sub, three USB 2.0 ports, Mic-in, Headphone out, RJ-45 and a Kensington lock port.

The energy-efficient processor with integrated graphics guarantees a lower power consumption compared with the previous generations, for a battery life up to 15% longer. In addition, the graphics core, being superior to any previous integrated graphics solutions from Intel, possesses a high video-processing performance.

This video capability is well made use of by the 17-inch, cinema-class, 16:9-ratio, LED-backlit display, with a maximum resolution of 1600x900 HD+ and the aforementioned 14% increase in viewing area. This increase provides a “wider viewing comfort with no distortion or color loss when viewing DVDs. ” Not only that, but this video capability is complemented by the audio solution built into the product, which features two 2-watt speakers and even a subwoofer built into the bottom of the notebook.

The MSI CR720 measures 414×267×37.2mm, weighs 3kg and comes with the Windows 7 Home Premium OS. It is expected to become available later this month and might make its appearance at CeBIT 2010. The price has yet to be mentioned.
