Final Fantasy freaks' delight

I guess many Sony Fans were angry because Dragon Quest IX was turned into a DS exclusive, but Square Enix has decided to fix this and has revealed that they are planning to release two new Final Fantasy games.

These two Final Fantasy games will be developed for Sony's handheld, the PSP. The first project for Square Enix is to update Final Fantasy Tactics: Shishi Sensou, a PlayStation 1 classic. IGN reports that Square is adding some new jobs and some "cell shaded" movies and apart from this, no further improvements are expected.

The second project is more hush-hush, so hush-hush that nothing is known about the game except for the title, Final Frantasy Tactics A2 Fuuketsu no Guurimore (can this be a candidate in the race for the worst video game title ever?). IGN reports that nobody knows even on what platform it will be released.

Apparently, both projects are part of a series of projects referred to by Square Enix as "Ivalice Alliance", Ivalice being the name of the world in which both Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII take place. Also, parts of this project are Final Fantasy Xii Revenant Wings, and a DS version of this year's PS2 Square Enix.

Personally, I know one Final Fantasy fan who will jump up and down once he hears this news. You probably know him, he is the guy who does the console reviews. He recently reviewed a copy of Final Fantasy XII, maybe you would like to check it out.
