With the first 2010 film getting a lot of heat for extremely disappointing post-production 3D conversion, the team behind “Clash of the Titans” is determined to make the sequel more worthwhile. It now has an official title and synopsis.

Starring Sam Worthington (fresh off the success of James Cameron’s “Avatar” at the time) as the lead, and boasting a stellar cast, “Clash of the Titans” was harshly criticized for poor 3D effects when it came out last year.

However, since it managed to fare well at the box office, a sequel was almost immediately greenlit, with fans hoping the second film would actually do justice to the premium ticket price for 3D.

While that’s yet to be determined, “Clash of the Titans 2” now has an official title and synopsis, AceShowbiz informs.

The sequel comes out on March 30, 2012 and will be called “Wrath of the Titans.” It will pick up ten years after the events in the first film and, as expected, it would have Perseus face even bigger challenges to save mankind.

“While he is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and sole parent to 10-year old Helius, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans,” AceShowbiz writes of the synopsis.

“Weakened by humanity’s lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos,” the e-zine further says.

“When Hades and Ares team up to capture Zeus, Perseus cannot ignore his true calling. Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda, Poseidon’s demigod son Argenor, and fallen god Hephaestus, he bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind,” AceShowbiz further writes.

Sam Worthington will, of course, reprise his role as Perseus. Fans of the first film will also be happy to note that other actors are also coming back, like Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes and Danny Hutson.
