Report says Jon and girlfriend Hailey Glassman cooked up the story for attention

Days ago, 22-year-old Hailey Glassman did a special 2-part interview in which she said the man she loved, none other than Jon Gosselin of the “Jon & Kate Plus 8” reality show fame, was emotionally abusive to her. Hours later, Jon also did a series of interviews, saying he supported Glassman in everything she did. Of course he supported her, an insider tells Fox411, since he was the one who orchestrated the entire “scandal” in the first place.

According to a well-informed source who chooses to go by unnamed, Jon Gosselin came up with the idea of Hailey doing the so-called “tell-all” interview, in which she’d say how he was being abusive to her and generally indifferent to her feelings altogether. He would then act surprised, like he didn’t know his actions were so hurtful to her, would apologize and, of course, come out as the good guy, the source says of Gosselin’s plan.

Granted, it’s a simple scheme that would rather befit daytime soap operas, but that’s not to say it hasn’t happened, the insider insists. The problem with Jon Gosselin right now is that money is running short and he has no immediate way of cashing in on anything soon. Coming up with the story of the emotional abuse claims was the most certain way he could make some money that he could think of, explains the same source.

“Jon actually made the decision to have Hailey go on air and bad mouth him. Jon and Hailey get paid for their appearances on these shows and they need the money. It was easy for Hailey to conjure tears, their lives are less than stellar right now, but Jon hasn’t abused [her]. They agreed to have her go on and make the abuse allegations! Jon doesn’t have much money left and he is not currently searching for a real job. Jon still seeks money through his fame and notoriety. He really wants a reality show of his own, and he is stretching out every moment of the drama for a dollar,” the tipster reveals for Fox411.

It’s not yet known whether the desperate bid for attention of the two managed to land them at least an offer for a new television project but, as far as the summoning attention to themselves part goes, it has certainly succeeded in doing that. Jon Gosselin was not immediately available for comment as regards these recent allegations, but chances are he’ll choose to ignore the topic altogether and expect it to go away. It’s not like he can actually confirm staging the entire media “scandal” for ratings, they say.
