NVIDIA units being included in new MacBook Pros is again subject of speculation regarding Apple's rumored MacBook line refresh. Citing “various sources,” TUAW claims NVIDIA is not only tasked with crafting parts of the new MacBooks, but that it is actually showing off the new notebook models to its staff.

The weblog's tipsters, who haven't been confirmed as reliable, also claim that the new versions will be released as soon as October 14. This is consistent with most rumors on Apple's next-gen MacBooks. One in particular has it that NVIDIA's latest chipset will make up the basis of new MacBooks in a move that would see Apple dropping the standard Intel laptop motherboard and embracing Blu-ray.

NVIDIA's MCP7A IGP chip is praised for its high performance per Watt ratio, DDR3-1333 memory and the ability to include HDMI output. This feature alone could bring even more benefits, should Apple finally decide on supporting Blu-ray in its Macs. Also, with Apple deciding to emphasize gaming a tad more, NVIDIA's involvement makes even more sense, the same people believe.

According to more “trusty” sources citing Apple insiders, the new MacBook Pro is not going to have the tapered edges of the MacBook Air. It will, however, keep the current basic shape, but will be thinner and narrower than the current model. Glossy screens, new black keyboard keys as used in MacBook Air, and a glass trackpad for MultiTouch use will also be included with the new Pro design, as well as a split trackpad. Ports would include the standard 2.0 USB and FireWire 800.

It is widely believed that Apple will introduce its new MacBook Pros packing a 2.6GHz Core 2 Duo processor, with a clear black frame around the screen (much like the aluminum iMac). The new portables are expected to be officially unveiled in the course of this month.
