Video game developer Firaxis and publisher 2K Games are launching a new Scrambled Continents Map Pack for Civilization V, designed to give players new types of continents to test their strategic skills on.

The team says that the outlines of continents remain the same and resemble the real world, while the interior is always brand new because of a set of special scripts that create realistic landscapes.

Firaxis states in the announcement, “Maps include Africa, Eastern Asia, North and South America, Western Europe, the Middle East, a thawed Antarctica, new scripted maps for Small Continents and Oceania, plus one map including all of Earth’s continents.”

The original Civilization V changed the core elements of the franchise by introducing hexagonal tiles for the first time and allowing just one military unit to occupy one of them.

Since then, the game has received two expansions, which have added game mechanics and have improved the performance of the AI.
