The turn-based strategy title Civilization V has gotten a new patch from the developers at Firaxis, one which again addresses quite a few issues and aims to make the game the best it can be for as many players as possible.

The patch will be automatically delivered via Steam when a player starts a session of Civilization V and, despite complaints from some fans, Firaxis seems not to be interested in creating a system to roll back game patches.

The developers say that save games are compatible with the new patch for the game and that they have made adjustments to the way the game is paced which might result in a sudden drop in the happiness level for those who are loading a save game started before the new patch was released.

Several small changes have been made to the User Interface, especially the aircraft elements and the way progress for Great Persons is shown but the meat of the update is in the Diplomacy and the Artificial Intelligence areas.

The computer has been persuaded to be more inclined to backstab the player and his civilization, although the moves will not be random and will be announced through diplomatic interaction, and the A.I. also has better memory about how the player interacted with it.

The game has also received a large number of balance changes, most of them based on the feedback from the player community.

There are also additions designed to make modding Civilization V easier.

A number of players on the official forums are saying that the patch makes the Firaxis turn-based strategy feel like a new experience while others are saying that the changes are increasing the difficulty artificially without making the computer play smarter.

The full patch notes are available on Steam and the official forum is a good place to talk about the patch.
