Oasys Mobile announced the availability of Sid Meier's Civilization IV: War of Two Cities for mobile phones, a new strategy game based on the legendary Civilization franchise created back in 1991 by Syd Meier and currently owned by 2K Games.

The announcement comes after almost one year since Oasys got the license from 2K to develop the game, so they probably spent a lot of time in making everything suitable for our handsets.

The mobile version of Civilization IV presents a striking resemblance to the original version, bringing a similar gaming experience, but it also comes with mobile-specific features. Players will have to expand and develop a city, while defending it from surrounding enemy cities. Once you advance in the game, new strategies and features can be discovered, helping you to make your army stronger and advance faster from ancient to modern times.

"Oasys Mobile's fresh, new twist on Civilization IV should help successfully introduce the series to a whole new realm of mobile players in addition to tantalizing classic Civilization fans", stated Doug Dyer, the CEO of Oasys Mobile, in a press release.

Paul Crockett, Director of Strategic Sales and Licensing at 2K, said: "With the release of Sid Meier's Civilization IV: War of Two Cities for mobile phones we are excited to extend the award-winning Civilization brand to an entirely new audience. By partnering with Oasys Mobile, we are able to transcend traditional mediums and deliver an engaging and fun experience befitting of the Civilization brand."

For the moment, the new Civ IV seems to be available only for T-Mobile's subscribers, but Oasys will surely bring it to the rest of the important US carriers too. Moreover, the company mentioned that the game would be globally launched, hence mobile users from all over the world should be able to try it soon.
