The development team at Firaxis and publisher 2K Games are delivering the first major patch for the turn-based strategy title Civilization: Beyond Earth, which is designed to improve a wide range of mechanics for the title and to eliminate some of the problems that have plagued gamers since launch.

The 144hz monitor problems are now gone, as is an issue which did not allow one set of Achievements to be unlocked.

The full list of changes introduced to Civilization: Beyond Earth is pretty big and fans should read it in full at the bottom of this article in order to make sure that they are not taken by surprise by the modifications made to the game once they actually start a campaign.

The entire game has been re-balanced to make it clearer how many resources gamers can obtain from their trade routes, and there are changes to the way health works, which is needed in order to make the campaign more challenging early on.

Sponsors have also had their unique abilities modified in order to make Elodie, Rejinaldo, Barre, and Kozlov more interesting to play.

Even the tech web and the Affinities of Civilization: Beyond Earth are affected by the first patch and should make the campaign better balanced.

Firaxis says that all fans of the turn-based experience should try out the game with fresh eyes and should report all problems that they encounter after applying the update.

Civilization: Beyond Earth will probably get an expansion next year

Civilization: Beyond Earth was a good game on launch, although it failed to live up to the promise of delivering a spiritual successor for the classic Alpha Centauri.

Despite the focus on a new planet and the introduction of the tech web and the Affinity system, the title feels a little too close to the classic mechanics of the franchise.

Firaxis has not yet said how long it might take to deliver a second patch for the game, but gathering feedback will probably require some time.

In the meantime, the company might be already exploring ideas about an expansion for Civilization: Beyond Earth, which could be offered as soon as the fall of next year.

Traditionally, titles in the series receive at least two major content packages, which often introduce a range of new mechanics and aim to tweak the initial features in order to introduce more variety and encourage replayability.
