Video game developer Firaxis and publisher 2K Games announce that Civilization: Beyond Earth is at the moment available for pre-order from a number of outlets, and that all those who get the game before launch will be able to get access to six new maps based on real world planets.

Gamers will be able to play on:

Kepler 186f – forest covered and very Earth like; Rigil Khantoris Bb – a continental planet with an arid environment; Tau Ceti d – covered with archipelagoes that have fostered plant life and offer plenty of resources; Mu Arae f – tidally locked to a weak star, with two very different hemispheres; 82 Eridani e – affected by earthquakes that are very powerful and lacking in water; Eta Vulpeculae b – a newly discovered planet with unknown terrain.

All gamers who want to get Civilization: Beyond Earth can do so on the official site of the title.

Official launch is set to take place only on the PC on October 24.

2K Games is also set to offer a new Classic Bundle for Civilization: Beyond Earth, which will include Civilization III Complete, Civilization IV, and Civilization V for all gamers who are willing to pay 70 dollars or Euro.

The new title in the classic turn-based strategy franchise will allow gamers to settle a new world and compete with some interesting factions, and will include a range of new concepts, like a tech web, improved diplomacy, and interesting alien interactions.

Firaxis says that it wants to have a game that is instantly familiar to long-term fans of the series but does change some of the mechanics, drawing inspiration from the classic Alpha Centauri experience.
