Perhaps surprising no one, Zynga's latest *Ville game, CastleVille is turning out to be the company's fastest growing yet and, in fact, the fastest growing game on Facebook in history.

It debuted on November 15 and it gained several million daily active users within days. In less than a week after launch, it passed the five million daily active users mark.

At this point, 10 days after launch, CastleVille has 6.6 million daily active users. A monthly users figure is a bit misleading, since the game is less than two weeks old.

However, CastleVille has 14.6 million monthly active users at this point and the number is growing. Even now, it's enough to place the game as the 14th most popular app on Facebook in terms of monthly active users.

When looking at daily active users though, CastleVille is already at number six in the chart. It's actually gaining on the other popular games in the franchize. FarmVille has 6.9 million daily active users and CityVille 10.8 million.

CastleVille is already big, but it's also the fastest growing Facebook game to date. It hit five million daily active users in six days. In that same time, FrontierVille had 2.6 million daily active users and CityVille, currently Zynga's most popular game, reached 3.2 million.

CastleVille is doing more than all right in terms of daily active users, but it still has a lot of growing to do before getting close to the other games in terms of monthly users.

FarmVille is still enjoyed by 30.7 million people each month and 50.4 million people play CityVille at least once a month. The daily active user numbers may be more relevant as a measure of activity, but the monthly ones are a better metric for scale.
