Comic books have played an important part in a lot of people's lives, especially for gamers, who have been offered a wide variety of titles based on popular comic book characters. From Marvel, DC or any other comics company, the market is filled with them.

But NCsoft, the publisher of titles such as Guild Wars or Lineage, has decided to offer players the ability to create their own characters based in the comic book universe, through the launch of its City of Heroes Massively Multiplayer Online Game. The title enjoyed a great deal of popularity through the intricate character creator system, which allowed players to customize every little detail about their in-game hero, and is available for both the PC and Mac users.

The team at NCsoft has just announced the fact that the Mission Architect system would be implemented in the game, allowing players to create and share their own custom missions and story arcs with friends in the game. The new system will give players the ability to personalize their character's story in many ways, including the option to write custom dialog.

“We are very excited for City of Heroes to be the first-ever MMO to offer this revolutionary new system to our players,” said Brian Clayton, general manager and executive producer of the franchise. “Within two weeks of opening the beta version of Mission Architect to our community, players published an astounding 5,000 custom stories, representing up to 25,000 user-created missions. Such a steady in-flux of fresh content offers the capacity for endless adventures to City of Heroes subscribers."

Each story created with this new system can have up to five missions that will contain up to 25 individual objectives. Three story arcs will be allowed per account, which will be displayed across all of the game's servers. They will be rated by other players and the best ones will be prominently displayed and give their creators in-game rewards. Also, the developers of the game will come through the submissions and award the best ones the “Dev Choice” title, and the creators with an additional slot to create another elaborate story arc.

In conclusion, it seems that there will be a lot of activity in the City of Heroes now, as there are surely many people who want to create their own adventures for their comic book characters.
