The development team at Paragon Studios has released a list of the events that will mark the final days of the MMO City of Heroes / City of Villains.

The game will turn off its servers forever on November 30 but before that date players who are interested will be able to take part in events like:

Summer Blockbuster – between October 5 and October 8 A double experience points weekend – from October 18 to October 22 A Halloween Event – between October 26 and October 29 Winter Event – from November 9 to November 12 Rikti Invasion – on November 23 and 30

The server shutdown will take place on November 30 at exactly 12:00 AM Pacific Standard Time and a large part of the player base is expected to be present for the end of the MMO.

Those players of City of Heroes who still have currency associated with their accounts will get automatic refunds starting with late September in order to make sure that no one losses money when the game is terminated.

Meanwhile a petition from the player base which seeks to see the game saved has managed to get 20,000 signatures.

The gamers have also taken out the Paragon Studios development team out for a meal in order to show their support and their appreciation for their efforts to make City of Heroes a good game.

The fans are also asking representatives from publisher NCsoft to actually play City of Heroes in order to see what the game has to offer but it seems that there’s no way of saving the game at this point.

City of Heroes is a significant game because it was the first MMO to use a superhero theme in an effective way, paving the way for the success of DC Universe Online, from Sony Online Entertainment, an the upcoming Marvel Online.
