“Reforest Patagonia” wishes to help the country recover from past wildfires

Over the last century, Patagonia’s forests have been largely destroyed by wildfires. Now, a citizen campaign − “Reforest Patagonia” − intends to raise sufficient funds so as to plant nearly a million trees in this part of the world.

Apparently, six national parks and reserves are especially targeted as re-forestation areas. This means that national tourism will also have to benefit from this project.

Those who wish to help restore Patagonia’s forest can access the virtual forest platform set up by the campaign's leaders and donate $4 (about €3) per tree.

Once the donation is made, the green-head who decided to get involved in this project will receive an e-mail with a certificate of reforestation and a link to Google Maps, which indicates the exact future location of the $4 tree.

What is even more interesting is that companies such as LAN Airlines, Coca-Cola and Rockford have already announced their support for the “Reforest Patagonia” project.
