Cities: Skylines, the massively popular city management simulator from developer Colossal Order and publisher Paradox Interactive, won't get weekly patches as the studio is still a small one and wants to make sure that new updates don't end up causing more issues.

Cities: Skylines launched earlier this month and has quickly impressed lots of PC users who love city management and taking care of their own virtual settlement. The title was immediately embraced by the modding community, and developer Colossal Order, together with publisher Paradox Interactive, has pledged to support the game in all sorts of ways.

No weekly updates for Cities: Skylines

After having presented the first update for the title last week, Colossal Order now mentions on the official forums that weekly patches aren't scheduled to appear for Cities: Skylines, as it doesn't have enough resources to craft and test them as intended.

As such, the team is taking its time when crafting new patches, in order to directly address user feedback and ensure that they don't end up causing more issues. The studio also notes that, right now, most technical problems have been eliminated through the initial patch, and Skylines is quite stable in most situations.

"We cannot promise weekly patches, sorry! We are only thirteen people, so there's lots of work to do. If something were to go very wrong with the game, we would naturally patch that as soon as possible. The game is very stable and there are not many technical problems, so we will go slowly with patches to make sure nothing breaks accidentally. We want to provide you with good, reliable, well-tested patches that will make the game even better," the studio mentions.

Cities: Skylinesis is expected to receive plenty of new features through free updates, not to mention through premium downloadable content, as Paradox plans on using the same post-launch strategy as seen with Crusader Kings 2 or Europa Universalis IV, its other recent experiences that got not only many content updates but also plenty of expansions.
