Just days after confirmation came that Whitney Houston’s death was, in fact, drug related, her mother Cissy Houston is breaking her silence in an emotional interview with My9TV.

A preview of the full interview, which will air this Monday, is below, embedded at the end of the article.

Asked whether she believes she could have done something more to help her daughter and thus prevent her death, Cissy admits she can think of no such thing.

Whitney’s passing was a shock and is still very painful for her but, in retrospect, she believes she did all she could have to save her.

“I know I did the best I could… I don’t blame myself. I know I did the best I could for everything,” Cissy reveals in the emotional interview.

“I’m very proud of my daughter. She accomplished a whole lot in the short time that she had here… she was a very wonderful person,” she adds.

Even so, Cissy still has a very difficult time coming to terms with her daughter’s untimely death, as would any other mother in her situation.

“I have my moments… I’m not there yet… I don’t think I’m any more courageous than anyone else,” she points out.

She also denies that Whitney died “broke,” as reports claimed she did. Months before her death, word got out in the tabs that she had squandered her fortune away and would beg friends to lend her money for the most basic needs.

It’s just not true, Cissy insists.

As for how she copes with Whitney’s death, whom Cissy describes as the best daughter she could have ever wanted, she says, “I am a true believer in God, if I could bring her back I would, but that's not possible.”

Whitney Houston was found dead in her hotel room on February 11 this year. The preliminary cause of death is accidental drowning, caused by use of cocaine use and a bad heart.
