Bobbi Kristina Brown (Krissi) has been in a medically induced coma since January 31, after she nearly drowned in the bathtub in her Georgia home. Because she was deprived of oxygen for a long time, doctors believe she may never wake up and have even told the family that only a “miracle” could help her now.

Krissi is the daughter of the late singer Whitney Houston and ex-husband Bobby Brown, and at the time of the accident, she’d been living with boyfriend / “adopted brother” / alleged husband Nick Gordon for years. He is the main suspect in the ongoing police investigation.

Cissy Houston breaks her silence

Since the tragedy, relatives from Bobby Brown’s side have been quick to talk to the media and offer a variety of accounts of what happened, one more outrageous than the other. Gordon too did an interview with Dr. Phil, which doubled as an intervention for him to go to rehab.

Overall, the Browns (except Bobby) seem to have rushed at the chance to make themselves famous and make money off the tragedy, by giving exclusives, organizing all kinds of events and becoming very talkative on social media.

Meanwhile, the relatives on Whitney’s side have been keeping to themselves, only speaking out to urge fans to pray for Krissi to recover.

In her first interview since the tragedy, Cissy Houston, Whitney’s mother, says that not much has changed about Krissi’s condition since she was admitted and was put in the coma. She is now at a rehabilitation center in Atlanta, but she’s showing no signs of progress.

You can find a segment from her appearance on Middays with Shaila on WBLS in NY in the video below. She thanked fans for their continued support and asked them to pray some more, because, she says, only God can help her granddaughter now.

“If He works a miracle, thank God,” she added. “And if it happens the other way, I’m alright.”

Two similar tragedies, 3 years apart

3 years before Krissi nearly drowned, her famous mother lost her life in similar circumstances: Whitney was found face down in the tub in her hotel room, on the night she was supposed to attend a pre-Grammy party. She had OD’ed, toxicology tests would later reveal.

Krissi never really got over losing her mother, and it is said that Gordon, who was raised with her as if he were Whitney’s son (he was never legally adopted, though) only fed her addiction issues because he wanted to have control over the money she inherited.

So when she was found just like her mother, unresponsive in the bathtub, almost 3 years to the day of her mother’s death, people assumed she might have wanted to take her own life. Later reports said that she displayed injuries inconsistent with the way she was found and that police suspected foul play.

Gordon is now in rehab, and we have no other updates on the investigation. Apparently, he refused from day one to cooperate with the authorities.
