Back in April 2010, the news that a female elephant by the name Carol had been injured in a drive-by shooting in Mississippi, US, made headlines. The animal is now said to have made a complete recovery, and to be getting ready for a comeback tour.

Thus, Ecorazzi informs that Carol has resumed training, and that visitors to the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Baily Circus will soon get to see it perform. Needless to say, animal rights activists are not exactly thrilled that Carol is to be back in the spotlight.

Talking to the press, Carol's trainer said that the elephant was unlikely to have been traumatized by the shooting, and that it probably did not even understand that somebody tried to hurt it on purpose. As trainer Cathy put it, “She just had a little boo-boo; we fixed it right away.”

As reported in last year's April, evidence indicates that whomever shot Carol did not do so by mistake, but, for some reason, targeted the elephant specifically.

Police officers have not yet manage to identify and catch the person behind this drive-by shooting, and, despite a $33,750 (€24,620) reward, nobody has stepped forward with any information that might help them.

One can only hope that the person who shot Carol will eventually be made to pay for their actions.
