Google ran its first TV commercial for Google+ a few days ago. The timing was right, but the clip probably wasn't. Google+ does have several things going for it, but sometimes an ad that is too 'smart' can leave people confused about what exactly is being advertised.
As with all of its TV ads, Google uploaded the clip to YouTube. But it uploaded a second clip as well, on the same day, dubbed "Google+: Circles Love Story."
Compared to the one that aired on TV, this second clip has no narration at all, right through the end. This makes it pretty much impossible to run as a TV ad.
However, the lack of any narration means that viewers can focus on what's going on in the actual video.
The idea of this ad is simple taken to the extreme, as the title suggests, it's a love story illustrated entirely with Google+ circles. It's simple, but definitely gets the point across.
