While the services provided by Cingular will be very much alive, the name will not, as SBS is now adopting AT&T's name which they mean to use to market all the company's products.

Company portfolios as well as customer care capabilities will be conbined, and the introduction of innovative broadband services, such as IP-based services, as well as the expansion of reach of broadband access services will be accelerated.

AT & T wireless was aquired by Cingular in 2004 for $41 billion, while AT&T retained the rights to the brand name. Later on, SBC, owner of 60% of Cingular, strikes a deal to aquire AT &T, for $16 billion and rebrands to AT&T. While recently, AT&T Inc. closed its acquisition of Bell South Corporation, owner of the other 40% of Cingular.

"AT&T will be an engine for innovation, competition, and growth for our customers at home and abroad," said AT&T Chairman and CEO Edward E. Whitacre Jr. "In the Southeast, we will build on BellSouth's excellent record of serving customers and communities. And we are ready to lead the way in a new era of integrated wireless services nationwide."

"AT&T, BellSouth, and Cingular have led in developing and deploying many of the communications services that customers depend on today, including broadband DSL and wireless technologies," said Whitacre. "Moving forward, AT&T will work to integrate these services for customers in the Southeast, across the country and around the world."
