Cindy Crawford is not the average retired model, as she proved just recently with the anti-aging issue of Allure magazine, where she was featured in a fabulous and daring photo spread. Moreover, Cindy is also a businesswoman and, as such, she has just expanded her empire with a new deal with department store chain J.C. Penney that will see the introduction of a fresh line designed by her, as Yahoo! News informs.

The line, which will be launched later this year, comes at a time when the chain store is facing low sales and cuts in all departments. As customers are cutting on discretionary purchases, the chain store hopes to re-attract attention to its products by bringing such a heavy collaborator as Crawford is. At the same time, other home products also designed by the model have enjoyed a warm reception with customers in the past, which can only mean that, hopefully, this line will sell well, too.

“The merchandise, ranging from bedding and bath items to wall decor and rugs, will be available exclusively at Penney stores in September, the company said on Friday. Penney, which bills the line as affordable, said it would offer promotional prices for some items, like $23.99 for decorative pillows and $169.99 for a queen comforter set. Furniture store chain Raymour & Flanigan already sells a line of furniture designed by Crawford.” Yahoo! News says, citing a Reuters report.

Cindy-designed merchandise, be it furniture, decorative items or simply beauty products, have always fared well with customers because of a certain down to earth quality the former model has about her. Never the one to not speak openly about most things pertaining to her public image, the customers (and especially women) can relate to her, which is why she has been so successful in her many endeavors, it has been said.

Just for the sake of argument, recently, Crawford admitted that she, just like all women of her age, does not have a perfect body – but that is not to say that she is not happy with it. “I don’t look the way I did when I was 23. So, if Star magazine or whatever wants to print a picture of me on the beach from the back, at the worst possible angle, and say that I have cellulite, I’m like, ‘Guess what? I do, and I never said I didn’t’. Basically, I take care of myself, but I don’t want to be obsessive. And I don’t want to not like who I am today. I’m all for fighting the good fight, but I don’t care how much you work out or how much cream you put on – things change.” Cindy Crawford told Allure magazine with almost disarming honesty.
