A new HSPA+ network is now available in the United States, operated by Cincinnati Bell Inc., and capable of providing users with 4G services that are three times faster than the carrier's 3G network, also faster that what other carriers in the country have to offer.

The wireless carrier touts its new network as being capable of delivering speeds of up to 10Mbps, which is two times more than what T-Mobile's HSPA+ network can provide to its users at the moment.

Along with firing up the new 4G network, the wireless carrier also announced the launch of handsets that offer support for the enhanced services, such as the Huawei Ascend X 4G. More similar devices should become available in the not-too-distant future.

“Every day the people of Greater Cincinnati use wireless phones to share news with friends and family and stream music and video,” Mike Vanderwoude, vice president and general manager of wireless for Cincinnati Bell, stated last week.

As stated above, the wireless carrier's customers can enjoy the faster speeds available for them on the new smartphone from Huawei, which comes with Google's Android 2.2 Froyo OS loaded on it.

The new device sports a large 4.1-inch touchscreen display, complemented by a fast 1GHzz application processor and a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, along with a front-facing camera.

The Huawei Ascend X 4G from Cincinnati Bell was priced at $99 after mail-in rebate and with the signing of two-year contract with the wireless carrier, and comes with a limited time, buy-one-get-one-free offer.

“With our 3G and 4G networks and strong Android, smartphone and tablet product lines, we can provide our customers with access to the cutting-edge wireless technology they crave,” explained Vanderwoude.

He also announced that the wireless carrier plans on making more 4G-capable smartphones available for purchase in the near future, but did not offer specific info on them.

At the same time, the company explains that its 4G wireless network is currently available for all mobile phone users in the Greater Cincinnati, and that its customers can also enjoy access to other 4G networks around the country courtesy of various agreements it has with different wireless carriers.
