Apple wants you to make fancy short videos for the whole week

Cinamatic is the easiest way to create beautiful short films and share them with anyone. The App is not necessarily a Vine replacement, but more like an artsy, non-social version of that.

Cinamatic was created by Hipstamatic, the guys that created the first photo filters app for iOS. Their success went down a little bit when Instagram was released, and then Twitter, Facebook and even iOS added simple ways to make your photos fancier. Cinamatic recreates that work on video.

You can record multiple short clips that transform into amazing short motion pictures, the developers say. The best thing about this app is that it is not social at all. Meaning that your creations will stay inside the app, like Vine does, but you can actually share them via Instagram, Vine or Facebook.

Your clips may vary in length from 3 to 15 seconds, and you can choose from a great selection of video filters. After the clip is done, you can instantly post it to the above-mentioned social networks.

The app is usually 99 cents, but you can get it free this week. There are also two extra in-app-purchase options that are free, Walt Film Cartridge and Toshiro Film. The other eight packages can be purchased with prices ranging from $0.99 to $3.99.

Cinamatic supports iPhone 4 or higher, but the developers say it runs best on iPhone 5 or newer and it has been optimized for the 64-bit iPhone 5s.

The app was updated just yesterday with some new Clip Views, localizations and bug fixes.

It's also good to know that you can upgrade to Cinamatic Pro for even more amazing features: "Add a soundtrack," "Advanced Image Controls," "Clip Merging," and "Segment Rearranging."

Cinamatic is Universal (works on both iPad and iPhone) and you can actually import clips from outside the app.

Cinamatic has been described as having more complex filters than the ones present in Instagram, but not necessarily better. Also, when too many users choose the same effects over and over, social networks get bombarded with similar looking clips.

Every Thursday evening, Apple picks a new app as the Free App of the Week. Last week we've had a really good 3D game: Assassins' Creed: Pirates.

Here is a video made entirely using Cinamatic and some of the available movie effects.
