Smartwatches are so yesterday’s news, aren't they?

Some time ago we told you about the Riot smartwatch, an atypical wearable product. What makes the Riot unique is that the bracelet going around your wrist incorporates a pico projector.

It might sound bizarre, but users of Riot will be able to see content being displayed on their hand. Got a Facebook notification? You’ll see the logo pop up on your hand. This weird project apparently attracted a lot of people who donated hard cash on Indiegogo to see this device become a reality (and it will).

What if projecting scant info like the Facebook logo or the time isn’t enough for you? Maybe you’d like to have all your smartphone screen at your disposal on your wrist? You never thought of that? Well, this new startup is way ahead of you and is certain that this is what you want.

Cicret projects an entire screen on your arm

Introducing the Cicret – a bracelet with a big twist: it turns our skin into a tablet. Sort of because Cicret is neither a tablet nor a smartphone, but a mobile device of its own.

It embeds a pico-projector and comes with 8 long-range sensors. Plus, it has all the specs required to run Android OS and other Android-compatible apps.

So basically you’ll be able to leave your smartphone somewhere in the kitchen and take a call on your forearm. And yes, according to the team behind the bracelet, you’ll be able to scroll on your skin and everything.

There’s no mention of the bracelet connecting to your smartphone, but the promo video obviously shows us this feature.

Not sure how all this scrolling on skin will be achieved because the official website doesn't really provide any of these details, but the system looks intriguing enough.

Could Cicret be a fad?

Just to reassure they aren't doing anything shady, the team behind Cicret says they aren't trying to crowd-fund the idea, but instead they are accepting donations. So if you like the project and you’d like to see it become a reality, you can go pledge any amount of money via Cicret’s official webpage.

The team also warns the bracelet is a prototype for the time being, so customers shouldn't believe any websites saying they have the device up for sale.

We wish we had more information about the technical specifications to help us understand how this thing works, but sadly, for the time being the Cicret website is pretty evasive.

The team striving to produce the wearable is also offering the Cicret app, which is completely unrelated to the bracelet. It’s a little application that hopes to make data transfer safer and you can go download it off the Google Play store.
