Cicero Networks announced the CiceroPhone, a dual-mode VoIP client for Nokia S60 handsets that enables roaming between WiFi and cellular networks.

CiceroPhone automatically routes calls, choosing the best suited WiFi or cellular network to optimize the cost and quality of phone calls. Routing decisions can be optimized on the handset for certain numbers or ranges of numbers for specific networks.

"Nokia is the market leader in the smartphone market and it has been a strategic priority for us to support S60 platform to enable operators to drive Fixed Mobile convergence adoption," said Ross Brennan, CEO Cicero Networks. "The addition of CiceroPhone for Nokia S60 smartphones to our portfolio underpins our commitment to bring mobile wVoIP technology and Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) solutions to the mainstream market."

Cicero Networks launched the first dual-mode client for Windows Mobile 5.0 converged devices in 2005. It has already been deployed by a number of telecommunication service providers and is also being used in pre-market trials by over 30 operators.

CiceroPhone for Symbian OS is scheduled for release on the 30th November 2006.
