Ciara Promises and Delivers

It's been a while (not long, but enough) since we've heard anything of Ciara and now her brand new video is already making huge waves all over. The clip for 'Promise', the first single released from 'The Evolution' album, due on December 5th is, by far, her best and, why not, one of the greatest songs released in these past months.

If you watch it carefully, you'll see that, besides bringing a new sound to hip-hop, it also remotely reminds us of long bygone times when Aaliyah fascinated her fans with her beats, soft voice and sensual moves. Ciara manages to do what no other artist was able to do until now without falling into the category of copy-cats.

I don't know if intentionally or not, but all the dance moves (except for the one with the microphone), send us back to the '90s, when TLC and Salt'n'Pepper rocked the music world to its very foundation by creating that image of a girl who can look sexy as hell wearing low waisted jeans, with underwear showing, big boots and loose-fitting shirts.

But it's more the sensuality rather than an apparent homage to old music or dance moves that which would best characterize Ciara's video for 'Promise'. The part in which she dances with the microphone has got to be one of the hottest and sexiest scenes ever to be shown in a music video. Sure, I admit, it would be nothing without her wonderful whispered voice, which seems to reach a new level of accurateness, beauty and depth.

To conclude: 'Promise' is good! And even that's an understatement because, in my opinion, it's even more than just 'good' - it's perfect (both song and video) and definitely worth watching. CLICK HERE to see for yourselves and, if I'm wrong, I will stand corrected.
