If you love the 80s horror movie starring the possessed evil doll known as Chucky, then this should be good news for you. The writer of the movies “Child's Play,” Don Mancini, has just confirmed that a new installment in the saga is currently in development.

The movie is going to continue the Chucky saga that so far has counted six films, beginning with the 80s installment and ending with last year's “Curse of Chucky,” which starred Fiona Dourif, Brad Dourif's granddaughter. Brad was the original voice of Chucky.

Don Mancini confirmed news of the sequel while attending the 40th Annual Saturn Awards last week. He is quoted as saying, “I am working on Chucky 7, yes.” He also confirmed that the new movie would pick up right where the last one left off.

“Yes, it continues quite quickly on the last movie and Chucky bedevils [Fiona's] character again,” Mancini disclosed. For those who don't remember, Fiona's character Nica was sent to a mental asylum because she blamed the doll for murdering her family.

When asked about the plot and the actors who would be playing, Mancini clammed up all of a sudden and refused to disclose if Alex Vincent, the boy who originally played Andy, would reprise his role for “Chucky 7.”

The reason for that could be the fact that the movie is still in the very early stages of production and no casting contracts have been signed yet. Mancini brushed off any further comments for fans by saying “It's all early days for all of us, I've probably said too much.”
