Chuck Zito clarifies and apologizes for his comments on the Christy Mack, War Machine situation

The other day, paparazzi caught up with actor Chuck Zito, and because that’s what they always do, they asked him about something he had absolutely no connection to: his take on the arrest of MMA fighter War Machine, who’d been on the run for more than a week after he beat his girlfriend to a bloody pulp, allegedly because he had caught her with another man.

Zito’s response to this is included below, in the second video. He tried to get out of what he guessed would be a sticky situation by saying that no one should form an opinion on the case in favor of either party because no one knew all the facts. He also said that many things happened behind closed doors and no one ever knew about them.

However, he added, “I guess if my girl was banging somebody, I’d be doing the same thing,” accompanied by a gesture that suggested he would have pounded her head in, just like War Machine did to Mack. This, in turn, seemed to suggest that he said Mack deserved everything that she got because she had cheated.

Speaking on TMZ Live after his comments went viral and caused a storm online, Zito is apologizing. His new statement is included in the first video. Also embedded below are the tweets from War Machine and Christy Mack on the violent incident that landed her severely injured in hospital and him in prison again.

Zito says that he never meant to sound as if he was saying that the adult actress “deserved” any of the things she suffered at the hands of her (possibly estranged) boyfriend. No woman, no matter the circumstances, deserves to be beaten, period, he says.

He did say though that he would have probably reacted just like War Machine if he caught his woman with another man, and he’s apologizing for the horrible wording of what is, after all, a personal opinion.

It’s not like he’d ever do that, he continues. He’s been married for 3 decades and has never laid a hand on her, he has too much respect for women to ever do that, Zito continues.

At one point, he even gets emotional when he mentions the backlash he’s been receiving on social media for his unfortunate comment: apparently, people have been telling him that he “deserves” all the cancer he got because he’s a vile human being.

Even if he had meant to say that Mack “deserved” the beating she got, which he insists he didn’t, this is a very nasty thing to say to a man who’s been fighting cancer.

Before you check out the actor’s explanation and apology and his initial comment below, a bit of context: War Machine nearly killed Christy Mack in a fit of rage, punching, kicking, and stabbing her in her Las Vegas home. He was apprehended a week later in Simi Valley, as he was trying to punch another woman, who had been with him all the time that the police conducted the manhunt.

Mack says that, at the time of the attack, she and War Machine had been broken up for a couple of months, but photos on his Instagram confirm that they were still an item just days before because she was sleeping in his bed. This could mean that the attack was prompted by jealousy, as she was with another man at the house.
