One of the thousands of Chuck Norris facts out there says Chuck Norris doesn’t vote – but what he does want Americans to do is go out and vote. Trigger The Vote has released a first ad in a new “Tough Like Chuck” series.

They say if Chuck Norris only thinks about voting for a candidate, that candidate automatically wins because, of course, Chuck is that powerful.

So, for the sake of democracy, Chuck abstains from voting, says one of the popular “facts” online, but that doesn’t mean that the actor doesn’t understand how important voting is for, you know, regular people.

Trigger The Vote has gotten the action star on board for a brand new campaign named “Tough Like Chuck,” The Hollywood Reporter says.

This first ad starts off at a class where Randy, the “group leader” is trying to teach his fellow Americans about what they can do to fight back when their rights are being violated.

“Tough-guy actor Chuck Norris stars in an NRA online ad that channels a little Charlton Heston, parodies the Tea Party movement and even makes fun of gun owners,” THR writes.

“Perhaps unsurprisingly, then, the two-minute Internet video is going viral, at least more so than your usual NRA video,” the same report says.

“When an old lady paraphrases former NRA head Heston by saying the government can have her gun when they ‘pry it from my cold, dead hands,’ Randy lovingly dubs her a ‘blougar’ – a blue-haired cougar,” says the e-zine.

However, Randy is also adamant no one should steal his new catchphrase, or else he’ll be very upset if he wakes up one day to see it “up on YouTubes.”

“That’s when Norris takes over the meeting with his plea: ‘There’s only one way to protect our rights – register to vote’,” THR notes.

What’s somewhat ironic is that the video is sponsored by the NRA (National Rifle Association), meaning an organization whose member the “blougar” is.

At least the NRA has enough sense to be able to make fun of itself on video, word in the blogosphere has it. All political implications aside, the message of the video is pretty straightforward and honest: vote.
