In the past few months, Chromebooks have finally started to become popular. The fact that they're only now as cheap as Google initially envisioned them to be is probably the biggest factor in this.

Still, people are warming up to the idea of a cheap laptop which boots up instantly, and which is secure and easy to replace.

"Summer is here, which means family vacations, kids’ camps, BBQs and hopefully some relaxation," Google wrote.

"But it also means back-to-school shopping is just around the corner. So in case you’re on the hunt for a laptop in addition to pens, paper, and stylish new outfits, your search just got a whole lot easier," it explained.

So it's no big surprise then that Google is now selling Chromebooks in more locations. In fact, the cheap laptop can now be found in three times as many stores as before – 6,600 places around the world.

Chromebooks will now start selling at Walmart. It's just the cheap but updated Acer Chromebook with an SSD for now, but it will be available in 2,800 locations in the US.

Staples has also started selling Chromebooks from Acer, HP, and Samsung in each of its stores (more than 1,500 locations in the US), but also online.

Google also revealed that stores from Office Depot, OfficeMax, Fry’s, and TigerDirect will start carrying Chromebooks in the coming months.

It's not just in the US that Chromebooks are more widely available, as 116 Tesco stores will sell the device in the UK. Mediamarket and Saturn stores in the Netherlands will sell Chromebooks as well.

FNAC stores in France, Elgiganten stores in Sweden, JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman in Australia will all have Chromebooks on sale. This year, Google also plans to start offering Chromebooks in even more countries where they're not currently available.
