The feature is not working at full potential, but Google will come back with a fix

Chromebook owners, if Google awarding you 60 days of free Play Music All Access wasn't enough, you’re getting treated with more. A new useful feature has been recently added, for you to take advantage of.

From now on, you can easily look up contacts and send them an email or start a new Hangout. According to the official Google post “you can now search four contacts right from your #Chrombook’s launcher, just like you’re used to searching for your websites and apps.”

All you need to do is press the search button on the keyboard and type the name of the person you want to get in touch with. But note that you’ll have to restart you Chromebook, allowing it to update, before you get the chance to try out the new feature.

Those that have tried out the new feat report the new addition is far from perfect. Surely some contacts appear, but some of them wouldn't show up at all, regardless of the keyword being submitted. Nevertheless, the Hangouts and Gmail shortcuts worked great for the contacts that showed up in the launcher.

It’s obvious the new feat needs a little fine-tuning and hopefully Google will fix it soon. In the meanwhile, go ahead and try it out yourself and tell us if it has worked for you.
